Description

What to expect

A cycling team building day with Terra BikeTours is a guided ride of up to 50 km from Barcelona, on road bikes, gravel bikes or electric mountain bikes, followed by a long lunch together. We supply the bikes, the guides, a support van and the insurance. Your team just shows up.

Barcelona is unusually good for this: the Garraf coast, the Collserola hills and the Penedès vineyards are all within an hour of the city centre. You can leave the office in the morning and be riding above the sea or through vines before ten.

We've been guiding riders in and around Barcelona since 2005, and every bike is prepared in our own Shimano Service Center workshop before the day.

  2. Along the Llobregat and the beach towns to Castelldefels
  3. The Garraf coast road: cliffs, bays and the sea beside you
  4. Arrival in Sitges, photo stop on the promenade
  5. Lunch by the beach, then van back to Barcelona

Best for teams where most people already ride. We split into a steady and a faster group, each with a guide.

Gravel – Collserola and the Carretera de les Aigües
  1. Bike fitting and briefing at the shop
  2. Climb to the Carretera de les Aigües, the flat balcony track above the city
  3. Team challenge at the viewpoint: route-finding in pairs
  4. Forest tracks across Collserola to Sant Cugat
  5. Lunch at a Catalan farmhouse, van back to the city

Best for mixed groups who want a real ride with no traffic. E-gravel bikes available for anyone who wants help on the climb.

eMTB – Penedès vineyards and cava
  1. Van transfer from Barcelona to Sant Sadurní d'Anoia
  2. eMTB briefing and a short skills session
  3. Loop through vineyards, farm tracks and Romanesque hermitages

Cycling team building in Barcelona: a guide for HR and event planners

What is a cycling team building day?

A guided group ride, usually 30 to 50 km, with a shared lunch and sometimes a light team challenge along the way. It gives people a common goal and hours side by side at conversation pace, away from screens and meeting rooms. We set the pace so the group arrives together, and the lunch at the end is where most of the real team building happens.

Road, gravel or eMTB: which should you choose?

Choose road if most of your team already cycles, gravel for a mixed group that wants a proper ride away from traffic, and eMTB if fitness levels vary a lot or some people haven't ridden in years.

How fit does the team need to be?

For the eMTB and gravel days, anyone who can ride a bicycle can take part. For the road day, riders should be comfortable with 2 to 3 hours in the saddle. We send a short questionnaire beforehand and add an extra guide when a group is very mixed, so nobody rides alone at the back.

When is the best time of year?

March to June and September to November, with temperatures around 15–25 °C. Winter rides work on most days thanks to the Mediterranean climate; in July and August we start earlier to avoid the midday heat.

How much does it cost?

Prices start at 100 € per person, including bike, helmet, guides, support van, lunch and insurance. The final price depends on group size, route and lunch venue. You get a fixed per-person price in writing within 48 hours of your call with Roger.

Is it safe, and are we insured?

Every ride has qualified guides, a support van with spare bikes and a first-aid kit, and third-party liability insurance. Helmets are mandatory and provided, and all bikes are serviced in our own workshop before every group day.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Do people need to be fit to join?
No. The gravel and eMTB days are designed for mixed groups, including people who have not cycled in years. Electric assistance evens out fitness differences. The road day suits teams where most people already ride.
How many people can join?
We guide groups from 8 people. Larger groups are split into smaller groups on the same route, each with its own guide.
What is included in the price?
Bike and helmet, qualified guides, support van, mechanical assistance, lunch, water and snacks, and third-party liability insurance.
What happens if it rains?
We watch the forecast from five days out. If riding is unsafe we move the date or switch to a shorter alternative route at no cost, as agreed in the proposal.
How far in advance should we book?
Four to six weeks is ideal for groups over 20 people, especially in spring and autumn. Smaller groups can often be arranged in two weeks.
Can the day include a workshop or meeting?
Yes. We can book a room at the lunch venue or end the ride at a hotel for a meeting, dinner or awards.
