Itinerary

The tour in detail

Arrival in Logroño, a lively city on the banks of the Ebro River. Your warm-up ride loops through nearby vineyards and quiet countryside, passing next to traditional wine estates and small villages like Oyón-Oion. Along the way, you will ride sections of the Camino de Santiago and enjoy views of the river plains.

Back in Logroño, explore the historic center and its famous tapas streets.

Leaving Logroño, the route heads south through agricultural landscapes toward Nájera, a historic town on the Camino de Santiago with the impressive Monastery of Santa María la Real. Continuing inland, the scenery becomes greener as you approach the Sierra de la Demanda.

The day ends in San Millán de la Cogolla, home to the UNESCO-listed monasteries of Suso and Yuso, considered the birthplace of the Spanish language.

Today’s ride descends back toward the Ebro Valley, passing through traditional villages such as Badarán and Cenicero, both surrounded by vineyards. Along the way, you’ll encounter numerous wineries and rolling hills that define Rioja Alta. As you approach San Vicente de la Sonsierra, the landscape becomes more dramatic, with views of the Ebro River and hillside vineyards. The town itself features a hilltop fortress and medieval streets.

This stage explores the heart of Rioja Alavesa, crossing into the Basque Country. Along the way, you pass near Briones, known for the Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture, one of the most important wine museums in the world.

The route continues through a sea of vineyards and small wine villages before climbing toward Laguardia, a beautifully preserved medieval town. Its hilltop location offers sweeping views over the Ebro Valley and surrounding vineyards.

Leaving Laguardia, you ride through iconic vineyard landscapes and pass close to unique architectural wineries such as Marqués de Riscal Winery, famous for its striking modern design by Frank Gehry.

The route continues via Elciego and Lapuebla de Labarca before crossing the Ebro River back toward Logroño. The final kilometers offer a relaxed ride through wine country, ending where the journey began.
