Itinerary

The tour in detail

Today your ride from the center of Barcelona to the heart of Penedès Wine Region.
Start the day by climbing to Mount Tibidabo via Arrabassada road, a classic for all cyclists in Barcelona.
Cross La Floresta on a long and twisty downhill on small secondary roads until reaching Valldoreix.
After a few kilometers of residential and industrial areas you will reach Llobregat river and its perfect gravel road on the east bank, where you will ride for the next 9km all the way to Martorell, the gateway to Penedès.

Passing Martorell, the next 30kms to your hotel alternate gravel and paved roads through the rolling hills along Anoia river.

Do not miss the chance for a small cava glass in some of the many wineries in Sant Sadurní d’Anoia that produce this fresh & light bubbly wine!

Accommodation Example: Hotel Mercer 3*
Distance: 70 km  Elevation: 900 m

Today’s route is about endless wineyards!
Spring has bloomed and summer is close by. You can tell by the green leaves dotting every field and the grapes starting to show.

The ride for today loops around the best small roads and paths in Penedès. After 10kms of warm up, we face the most challenging climb of the day. A short but steep gravel path peaking at 13%!
Don’t miss the chance to stop for a glass of wine and lunch at Mas Rabell or climb to Sant Martí Sarroca’s castle.

The rest of the day includes sustained climbs and long descents winding through wineyards.

Every village in Penedès has a local “Celler” or “Cooperativa” where you can try the local wine and some snacks.

Accommodation Example: Hotel Boutique Font de la Canya 4*
Distance: 62 km | Elevation: 800 m

For today we offer two ride options.
Ride 1 goes through the south part of Penedès region where wineyards are the main carachter, whilst Ride 2 rides deep into Garraf mountain range, offering a different landscape through pine forests and long ascents and descents.

Or you can choose to link them both (1st Ride 2, then Ride 1) for an epic day of 115km and 1550m of elevation!

Enjoy a winetasting at your hotel tonight, discovering their own cellar and the wines they produce in house.

Accommodation Example: Hotel Boutique Bolet Casa Modernista 4*
Distance: 62 km | Elevation: 800 m

Today it’s the day to say goodbye to Penedès, so you will climb to Serra del Bolet (14km, 550m from Vilobí del Penedès) to appreciate the whole region from avobe (choose to climb out and back to Cim de Clivelleres, 1km extra, for better views over Penedès).
After the top, it’s a mostly downhill ride to Sant Sadurní d’Anoia where you will be picked up and transferred back to Terra BikeTours.
