The tour in detail

Arrival in Girona, capital of the region and widely known cycling paradise.

A medieval town with a vast gastronomy and cultural offer. 

Meet the Terra BikeTours team, get setup on your bikes and resolve all questions you might have. 

We suggest a short warm up ride along Ter river to get the legs ready for the week ahead.

Ride: Girona Warm Up Ride – 40km 300m

Accommodation Example: Hotel Històric 4*

Ride on traffic-free gravel paths and small roads towards Pals, a medieval village overlooking the mediterranean. 

Ride: Girona to Pals – 50km 500m

Accommodation Example: Arhké Boutique Hotel

Today’s route takes us to Castelló d’Empúries along the coast and into the Aiguamolls Natural Park, a birdwatching paradise. A mostly flat ride through roman ruins, coastal towns and quiet nature.

Ride: Pals to Castelló d’Empúries – 50km 300m

Probably the most scenic ride of the tour. Cross the mulshland area and head into the rugged beauty of Cap de Creus Natural Park through a traffic free path.

Some hills ahead will get you slow enough to appreciate the beauty of the coves and cliffs in the area, and you can refuel by the sea on some of the beach bars you will find along the way.

In Cadaqués, you can relax by the sea or take a short ride to Cap de Creus lighthouse.

Ride: Castelló d’Empúries to Cadaqués – 40km 600m

The ride starts with a 5km gravel climb out of Cadaqués, but the views at the top are rewarding: sea and mountain views from the highest point of Cap de Creus, as you ride downhill towards Figueres, the birthplace of Salvador Dalí. You can visit Dalí Museum which is a short taxi ride from your hotel

Today’s hotel is an old farmhouse outside of Figueres.

Ride: Cadaqués to Figueres – 45km 500m

Ride rolling hills south back to Girona, alongside apple groves and quaint towns. 

Ride: Figueres to Girona – 50km 500m

Daily distances and elevation gains are clearly indicated for each itinerary, and we offer e-bike options for riders who prefer additional support on climbs or longer stages. Our cycling tour packages typically include selected hotels, daily luggage transfers, GPS navigation, detailed route notes, a welcome briefing, and ongoing support. Guided tours also include a professional cycling guide and support vehicle. Bike rental (road, gravel, or e-bike) is available or included depending on the itinerary.
