Girona’s Vía Verde by Bike: From the Pyrenees to the Costa Brava, Traffic-Free

Old railway lines turned into car-free bike paths carry you from a Pyrenean mountain town to a Costa Brava beach. This easy, self-guided Vía Verde Girona tour runs from Camprodon through the volcanic Garrotxa and along the Carrilet greenway to Girona and Sant Feliu de Guíxols, with group transfers from and back to Barcelona.

Day by day

Day 1 · Barcelona to Camprodon

Group transfer from our Barcelona shop to Camprodon, where the Ter and Ritort rivers meet under the 12th-century Pont Nou. Afternoon free to stroll and taste the local sausages.

Day 2 · Camprodon to Olot

38 km · 450 m

The only real climbing day: via Sant Joan de les Abadesses and over the Coll de Santigosa and Coll de Coubet, then a long descent to Olot among extinct volcanoes.

Day 3 · Olot to Girona

55 km · 350 m

Gently downhill on the Carrilet greenway through the Vall d’en Bas, Sant Feliu de Pallerols and Anglès, to Girona’s walls and Jewish quarter.

Day 4 · Girona to Sant Feliu de Guíxols

40 km · 200 m

The Carrilet continues through Cassà de la Selva and Llagostera to the sea. Swap bike shoes for a swim at Sant Feliu’s beach.

Day 5 · Back to Barcelona

Group transfer to Barcelona after check-out, or stay on the coast a few more days.
