If your team includes people who have not been on a bike in years, this is the day to choose. The Penedès is Catalonia’s cava country, 45 minutes from Barcelona, and electric mountain bikes make its rolling vineyard tracks easy for everyone.
The day in five steps
- 09:00 – Van transfer from Barcelona to Sant Sadurní d’Anoia, the capital of cava.
- 10:00 – eMTB briefing and skills session. Fifteen minutes on how the motor works, how to brake and how to choose a gear. Everyone feels confident before the first track.
- 10:30 – Through the vineyards. A 30 km loop on farm tracks, past Romanesque hermitages and family wineries. The motor flattens the hills, so the group stays together and talks all the way.
- 13:00 – Cava cellar visit and tasting. Walk the underground cellars and learn how cava is made, then taste a few.
- 14:00 – Lunch among the vines and van back to Barcelona.
Why electric bikes work for teams
The hardest part of any group ride is the difference in fitness. On an eMTB that difference almost disappears: the person who runs marathons and the person who walks to the office ride at the same pace. That makes the day about the team, not about who is fastest.
